Let's leave it, better not remove too many standard installed files. Maybe add a note to the installation page so users are aware of it, and leave it at that.

gawk-<version> is a hardlink to gawk. I don't see a problem with this. In fact, there are a few other packages which do this same thing, it's common. So, close this bug?
