This should be fixed with the resolution of bug 43 so I'm closing it for now.

let's fix this once and for all properly. Last report is that the symlink problem doesn't occur when /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/defkeymap.map.gz is an absolute link, rather than a link relative to the /usr/share/kbd/keymaps directory.
