Greetings,
in this CVS (20030209) gawk is not compiled as static executable which is needed in chapter 6 for installing Glibc-2.3.1.
Shoud be like in LFS 4.0: make LDFLAGS=-static

It currently works for me. I'm not sure if at the time there was indeed a bug. At any rate I don't see anything in the Changelog that a static problem was fixed. Last test build tells me that the current chapter5-gawk installation instructions produce a statically linked gawk executable in $LFS/static/bin
